STANDARD SPECIFICATION
FRAME: Our all-aluminum skylights are constructed of extruded aluminum frames, thermally broken throughout. Rafter sizes can be varied to meet any design load requirement. Each rafter has an integrated gutter to channel any water ingress to the eave. Eave glass is retained by an extruded aluminum compression clip with concealed gaskets.
All internal rafters and the ridge feature an ogee profile aluminum extrusion lending perspective to the interior framing. A molded nosing at the interior side of the sill is standard. Flat rafters are optional.
Wood trim interior is optional.
GLASS AND GLAZING: Standard roof and side glass is tempered/tempered one inch overall thickness (3/16-5/8-3/16) insulated units in High-Performance Low-E glass with Argon fill. Upgraded glass with higher shader co-efficients (for high sun locations) are listed below. Impact resistant glass for hurricane zones by special order.
Roof glass is retained by a dry-glazed compression cap system with multi-fin gaskets and a covered screw down compression clip with no visible screws. Side frames are externally glazed and feature an integrated weep drainage system to the exterior. All side frames are fixed. Opening windows or roof vents are optional on larger sizes.

* U-value measures the insulating properties of glass. The lower the better. Shading coefficient and Solar Heat Gain Coefficient measure the amount of solar energy admitted through the glass. The lower the better to reduce air-conditioning costs.
ROOF PITCH: Standard roof pitch is 25 degrees, but can vary from 15 to 50 degrees.
CRESTING AND FINIALS: Cast aluminum cresting and finials are standard, but can be omitted.
CURB DIMENSIONS AND FLASHING: All skylights are supplied with curb opening dimensions for Purchaser pre-approval. Curb is built and flashed by Purchaser. Skylight is supplied with an aluminum counter-flashing with water break. Counter flashing installed by Town & Country.

Skylight sizes are determined by the inside face of frame to inside face of fame. |
A minimum curb height of 6 - 8 inches above highest adjacent roof surface in snow zones or local code requirement is recommended.
STRUCTURAL: All skylights are engineered to the snow and wind loads required for the installation location. Local snow and wind load factors are requested in the contract. We can design to any snow or wind load or coastal hurricane code requirement. Design test pressure ratings are available for certain sizes for Hurricane zones, with more being tested regularly.
The owner is responsible for building code compliance and proper structural support for the skylight. Dead loads are provided at order.
WARRANTIES: 10 year structural and insulated glass seal warranty and one year installation workmanship warranty.
INSTALLATION: We provide installation on the Owner’s prepared curb. Shop drawing for Owner’s pre-approval provides opening details and flashing requirements.
Most skylights can be erected in two to 4 days or less. Longer for largest sizes or sites with access restrictions.
